Jared was passionate about life and was always ready to help others. He loved to travel and was curious about other cultures, as well as meeting others from all walks of life. Jared was kind and loving, and will be forever missed by friends and family. He was poisoned with fentanyl on February 17, 2020. Please don’t make this lethal mistake. Dance with the angels my beloved son.
Jared was a bright, compassionate soul who brought love, laughter, and deep conversation to those around him. He was curious about the world, passionate about sports, and shared a special bond with his English Bulldog, Tennyson. He loved deeply and was deeply loved.
In 2010, after having his wisdom teeth removed, Jared was prescribed Percocet. What seemed routine became life-altering. Jared struggled with addiction for the next ten years, bravely seeking recovery through counseling, treatment, and sober living. After years of hard work, he found joy again, building a life he loved and working full-time at Coca-Cola Bottling.
But on February 17, 2020, Jared took a substance he didn’t know was laced with illicit fentanyl. He died alone on his kitchen floor. He was 31 years old.
Illicit fentanyl stole his future and our time together. I share Jared’s story to honor his life and to help others understand the very real dangers of this deadly drug. Jared didn’t choose to die—he deserved another chance. Your awareness could save a life.
