Volunteering at The Blue Plaid Society
There are a lot of things to do to keep a non-profit running smoothly and accomplishing its goals. While our website and social media highlight are interactive events, there are numerous tasks behind the scenes for which we need help. Here is a description of what our volunteers do.
- Interactive Events – Full day, meet at event on time, help set up tent and tables, put out materials, straighten t-shirts. Interact with visitors, listen to their story. Be super nice! Hand out and answer questions about Narcan. Hand out educational materials. Be a food and drink runner. Break down tables, tent, and repack all materials.
- Speaking Engagements – Support the Founder at speaking engagements. Set up materials table, AV equipment, take pictures, distribute business cards.
- Advocacy Materials Preparation – Come to Blue Plaid HQ for an afternoon and put stickers on the 1200 boxes of Narcan we receive every month. Help with inventory counts, t-shirts, cards, materials. Apply Blue Plaid logo stickers to giveaway items.
- Narcan and Advocacy Materials Distribution – Fill requests and run cases of Narcan and educational materials (advocacy cards and pamphlets) to residential and corporate locations. Blue Plaid to provide locations and route.
- Organize a Fundraiser – Organize a fundraiser on social media. We do receive the money and it really helps. Have an idea? Organize a fundraiser in collaboration with us to support the mission to fight fentanyl and save lives.
- Need volunteer hours for school? We’d love to collaborate with you on your idea to support Blue Plaid and fight fentanyl. Graphic design, short video, essay, speaking, or peer to peer advocacy.
Blue Plaid Family Advocate Program
The Blue Plaid Society assists family members, who have lost loved one’s due to fentanyl poisoning, by providing advocate materials at cost. Applicants should be prepared to provide information about their community event or speaking engagement to support their request for materials. Requests should be at least 30 days in advance.
