The Second Annual Central Florida Fentanyl Summit is a crucial gathering of professionals, experts, and community members dedicated to tackling the devastating impact of Fentanyl. With its increasing prevalence and the alarming rise in fentanyl poisoning cases, Suzy Pereira recognized the urgent need for concerted action and founded The Blue Plaid Society as a vehicle for change. The Fentanyl Summit became the society’s flagship event, offering a unique opportunity to bring together individuals and organizations committed to preventing and combatting the crisis.

Prominent Speakers

The event boasts an impressive lineup of esteemed speakers who are well-versed in the intricacies of the Fentanyl crisis. Renowned experts, medical professionals, law enforcement officials, community leaders, and individuals directly affected by the crisis will share their knowledge, experiences, and innovative solutions during insightful presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions. These distinguished speakers are committed to inspiring change, fostering collaboration, and shedding light on effective strategies to combat the Fentanyl epidemic.

National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day™

The Second Annual Central Florida Fentanyl Summit aligns itself with the National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day, a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of Fentanyl and promoting preventive measures. National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day™ is established in remembrance of those lost to illicit fentanyl poisoning and to acknowledge the devastation this drug has brought to hundreds of thousands of affected family members and friends. This is a day of a coordinated response from fentanyl awareness organizations and affected families sharing their lived experiences as part of a whole group warning and informing our youth, the public, and the unsuspecting. The national day is observed on August 21st. By joining forces with this national movement, the summit gains increased visibility and underscores the importance of collective action to address the crisis at both local and national levels.

Why August 21?

National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day™ is August 21. The date is chosen not to overshadow the importance of Overdose Awareness Day that falls in the same month, but as a perfect time to bring attention to the differences between “overdose” and poisoning.

Key Objectives

1. Increase public awareness: The summit aims to educate attendees and the broader community about the dangers associated with Fentanyl use and the urgency of addressing the crisis.
2. Facilitate knowledge-sharing: By bringing together speakers with diverse expertise, the event provides a platform for exchanging ideas, research findings, and evidence-based strategies to combat the Fentanyl crisis effectively.
3. Promote collaboration: The summit encourages collaboration among various stakeholders, including medical professionals, law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and policymakers, fostering partnerships to develop comprehensive solutions.
4. Empower individuals and communities: Through inspirational stories and practical insights, the event seeks to empower individuals affected by the crisis and equip them with tools to make a difference in their communities.

Conclusion

The Second Annual Central Florida Fentanyl Summit, organized by The Blue Plaid Society, represents a significant step towards addressing the Fentanyl crisis plaguing communities across the state. By assembling a diverse range of experts and individuals impacted by the epidemic, the summit aims to generate meaningful discussions, inspire innovative approaches, and foster collaboration that will ultimately lead to positive change. As Suzy Pereira continues her mission to raise awareness, the event serves as a pivotal moment to bring attention to the Fentanyl crisis and work towards a safer and healthier future.
